The exhibition En communauté offers immersion in the world of a non-profit community shelter in Les Cévennes. Like a refuge, it offers a kind of freedom on the margins, far away from scrutiny and social norms.
Bountiful, untameable nature engages in dialogue with bodies. The photographs are clues—suspended moments in that shared living space.
Elsa Beaumont takes a documentary and social approach to photography. Her projects arise from slow immersion in living spaces that develop on the margins. They question our relationship with the world and with norms, and observe people who escape them. A graduate of ESBA (École supérieure des beaux-arts de Montpellier) and ENSP (École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles), and the winner of several prizes, she regularly exhibits at festivals, galleries, and art centres.
The exhibition is presented as part of Itinérances Foto, Sète’s annual photography festival. Itinérances Foto is supported by the Drac Occitanie, the Occitanie Region, the Department of Hérault and the City of Sète.
