Performance, Rencontre

In partnership with La Nouvelle Librairie Sétoise, the Crac Occitanie offers you an evening dedicated to Françoise d’Eaubonne (1920-2005).

An author, theorist and activist, Françoise d’Eaubonne published over one hundred books (including poems, novels, science-fiction, essays, and biographies) at nearly forty different publishers between 1942 and 2003. As an activist and feminist, she co-founded the Mouvement de Libération des Femmes (MLF) and the Front homosexuel d’action révolutionnaire (FHAR), and laid the groundwork for ecofeminism in France in the 1970s.

La Nouvelle Librairie Sétoise and the Crac invite you to rediscover this essential figure of the French intellectual scene of the second half of the 20th century, who remains largely undiscovered.

  • 6pm: Ce qui nous traverse, a performance-portrait of Françoise d’Eaubonne by Coline and Flora Pilet of the Noesis company.
  • 7pm: Why re-read Françoise d’Eaubonne?
    A round-table discussion with journalist Elise Thiébault, author of L’amazone verte (published by Éditions Charlestone);
    historian Caroline Goldblum, author of Françoise d’Eaubonne et l’écoféminisme (published by Le passager clandestin);
    and Ruth A. Hottel, emeritus professor of French at the University of Toledo, and the English translator of Feminism or Death (2022, Verso Books, New York).

Event organised in partnership with La Nouvelle Librairie Sétoise.
